Truth about CP (2005)

I've been here for 9 months, so my year lease is almost up. Here is my history with CP for the last 9 months.
Good things first:Nice furniture. Big rooms. Big closets and good size bathrooms. Friendly staff when you aren't asking them to do their job. Decent parking.
Ok bad stuff below.
Staff: Not that bright. Even if you're nice about it, they don't make any attempt to fix your problems. They are always too busy to talk to their residents and they all seem to know everything they "aren't legally responsible for" by memory. Models of perfection until you sign that lease and expect decent service. (And I ALWAYS act friendly when I have a problem...until you ------- off for a week.)
Maintenance:Horrific. When the office staff says "by tomorrow" it means next month(or never). My apartment-mate still has half of her carpet torn up from a flooding issue in Sept 2005.
Oh, and I loved it when our fire alarm went off at 3am in the middle of the week and didn't turn off until 6am. When the maintenance people finally showed up they didn't know what was wrong and just told us to call them if it happens again so they can show up 3 hours later and do nothing again.
And I liked it when they changed the locks on all the doors and then passed out all the wrong keys to everyone. They took 2 days to make new keys so we had to have a maintenance guy let us in and out of our apartment.
A/C sucks. Garbage disposal broke twice and still really doesn't work. Dryer doesn't dry. Washer leaked.
I almost forgot, don't plan on working out in the gym filled with expensive, elaborate, numerous, non-working equipment. They never fix the machines and never will.
Safety/Noise:Let's just say my roomies and I locked the two door locks and closed all the windows and blinds when the sun goes down. There are some creeeepy people that come out at night. And I can recall at least 2 times so far that a police helicopter has been hovering over the complex with its search light looking for someone I guess.
This is the crime report data for Sept 2005. CP is in 78741, apparently the worst crime infested zip in Austin. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/crime_reports/INDX_NINDX_ is really bad here. Not because the walls are thin but because of the stupid residents. They feel the need to blare crappy music with their 50 speaker surround sound system and thoughtfully leave the front door open so the whole building can hear it. At 2am. On Wednesday. While chain smoking.
Overall: I'm not renewing even with all the promotions I would get to do so. That should speak for itself.
For the price you pay, you should get a whole lot better. Don't look for "student oriented" complexes cause they rip you off and think you're a dumb arrogant college kid. (there are many here but you shouldn't treat everyone like they are)
I don't expect perfection but when you can't even reach subpar, it just isn't worth my time or money.
