Read this before moving into University Village

When my roomates and I first moved into this apartment in August, we were excited. We liked the apartment layout, we negotiated a cheap price ($359 a month for a 9 month lease including a covered parking spot), and management was supposedly the best on Riverside at the time ('). Within a few weeks we realized we were wrong in our initial judgement. Here's why:

1) The carpet and tile was FILTHY when we moved in, our feet were always COMPLETELY black after walking on the carpet for a few minutes. We had to get a rug doctor and go over the floor 5 times with extra strength concentrate to remove most of the dirt. They claim they clean each apartment prior to move-in, I find that hard to believe after this experience.

2) The washer had NO hot water, and within a week all of our towels, etc. were smelling like mildew. We filed a maintenance request to no avail. 7 MONTHS LATER they came and fixed it (new management took care of it after arguing with them for 20 minutes.)

3) Drawers were broken and the dishwasher was not functional. They fixed the dishwasher 2 weeks later, the drawers in the kitchen are STILL broken.

After living here for 9 months, I must say that I am absolutely disappointed and apalled at how a complex can be so poorly run. I understand when people say you shouldn't expect much for $400 a month, however, living in America you should expect some humane treatment. Let me explain what I mean when I say "humane treatment"

My room has a had a ceiling leak for last 2 months. I have filed maintenance requests with NEW management for this whole time, and the problem is still not fixed. They have sent maintenance guys out here, and they keep saying they will fix it, but they haven't. The ceiling is being taken over by spoungey MOLD and black mildew. I have spoken with the manager and it appears as though it still doesn't matter to them. I think i'm going to have to file with the Better Business Bureau to force them into action.

Do NOT move in here unless you want to deal with problems. The few people who have posted that they did not experience problems while living here are EXCEPTIONS, not the general consensus. Find somewhere else on Riverside. Trace is pretty nice, I have multiple friends who live there. Hope this review was helpful.
