So I moved in here Aug 2007. For the past year and a half my roommates and I have had "issues" with the 4 stupid girls who live above us. This is supposed to be a complex for STUDENTS. Now, we all know what college entails-drinking, partying, getting loud from time to time,...STUDYING!, RESTING UP FOR CLASS!, WORKING!!! Yes, the last 3 things I've stated are things the girls who have made my life hell seem to do less of...a whole lot less...like NONE. My roommates and I have been told to call the police when we have a noise violation/complaint for the girls upstairs and then to give the report number to the office asap. We've done this AND given them typed letters stating that we will now seek legal action since NOTHING AT ALL has been done about these rude girls. These girls even stole my Christmas wreath of our door!!!! Who does that''!'!'! So saying that, If you plan on living here at "uva" be prepared for trashy, disrespectful people AS WELL AS a careless, unhelpful staff that gives you the run around on just about everything! I live in a 4/4 upgraded unit. It still sucks. The lights were hung wrong. Our wood floors are not wood floors...it's that laminate stuff and ours is bump and looks like ---- frankly. All the things they promised in the begining (plasma/big screen, wireless net, living in the "horse shoe")...well they only came through with a big screen and my dad had to call the owners in NORTH CAROLINA for about 3 months straight to even get us that!!! Oh and lets not even talk about the gym! Half the equipment is broken but they definitely leave it in there for looks to get all these newcomers to sign leases...yep! They sure got me! This place is beyond a joke! I dread coming home. My roommates and I are fearful to even leave our apt because of these horrible girls. We are also afraid that they will start vandolizing our cars in the near future. I suggest not living on Riverside. I know it's cheaper than westcampus but damn...it's not worth this stress! I'd rather live in my grandma's bomb shelter than here. When you see the University Village sign...RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!!!! Not to mention drug deals that go on openly in the parking lot and gangster music playing at all hours. And if you're even remotely good looking...actually if you're even a female...don't go to HEB or else you will be eye candy for all the oh so classy men you'll see there! I know I've mainly talked about my issue with the girls that live above us but I know atleast 3 people that have been robbed and everytime I go into the office there is a list of repairs thats for ATLEAST 20 different apts. If you move here and end up living with your friends, and yall are miraculously the only people in your building, and yall keep to yourself, and your apt never needs repairs, and yall never need anything from the staff...then you'll probably love it! But count on not being the only people in the building, your apt WILL need repairs, yall WILL need the staff eventually, and I'm about 95% sure that at some point your parents will have to call the office or get involved in some way.
OH! and for those people who wrote that the LOOOOVE University Village' That's a joke. It was probably the manager or one of the employees who is pretending to live here and trying to talk it up..don't fall for it-not that you should fall for 1 good review out of the 20 bad reviews. And people who post saying they just moved in here weeks ago''' Come on! You don't know ANYTHING about what you just got yourself into...but good luck to ya!
