After my daughter's entire Oak Run villa flooded with outside muddy water due to rain and unresolved drainage issues (this has happened before apparently), she lost all her furniture.

The the manager told her she would not be let out of her lease, in spite of the minimum water damage treatment offered --carpet cleaning with carpet mold spray. Then she was informed that she could move back in. The unit smelled so toxic it made people's eyes water. The manager apparently never set foot inside it. There were numerous other units flooded as well.

After contacting corporate, the City of Austin Inspector, and a Black Mold Inspector - there was a quick change of mind from management. She was let out of her lease.

On a final note, the manager made a futile request that she go clean her (toxic) apartment before her deposit reimbursement would be issued, stating that "If you weren't a messy person it shouldn't be a problem."

A tenant who payed rent promptly and took good care of their rental unit should not be treated so unethically.

I have never responded to any articles on this web site due to the fact there are always 2 sides to a story. But when I read something that is absolutley UNTRUE I feel a strong urge to reply! These last 2 reviews ARE NOT about Villas at Oak Run. They are in regards to Oak Run. We often get confused because we are in very close proximity. We take mold very seriously and have not had the city inspector come to the Villas at Oak Run. Donna Grubb Property Manager

The address in question here is 1528 Southport Oak Run Apartments Austin, TX. Is that Oak Run or Oak Run Villas?
From: Anonymous Date: 02/08/2008
The Villas at Oak Run and Oak Run share a property, but they are managed by seperate companies. The Villas are stucco and Oak Run has wood panneling. This particular review is about Oak Run, not The Villas at Oak Run.
