Poor choice to live

The Villas is one of the most disappointing apartments I have ever chosen. I have lived in 7 different apartments and believe this gives me credibility about writing in regard to quality of apartment living.

The first time I heard anything negative in regard to the Villas (I did no research -- dumb me -- but hope you are doing research) was when I met a neighbor who said what a terrible place this was and how poor management was (I'm paraphrasing here as he had a number of curse words I won't mention). He said that I would find out how rude the staff was, how the rent price was too much, how inflexible the management was, and how dirty the place was. I didn't really believe him and chalked him off as being some poor disgruntled chap. Later I would find out what he was talking about . . .

When I had originally moved in -- I had signed my contract over one month before moving in -- they did not have my keys and I had to wait over an hour before they could make new keys. Meanwhile, my friends and I, along w/my pet, plants and belongings baked in the sun while they made keys.

Theft is definitely a concern here. If you don't like things stolen or broken, you may want to consider a different complex. My first REAL experience was the night I woke up and heard some noises out in the parking lot. I looked down from my apt to see a man peering into car windows and using some sort of tool to attempt to pry open car doors. He persisted. I called the police. He was arrested.

Another time, I was going down my stairwell and ran into my new neighbors -- a very lovely, educated couple. They asked me what I knew about the Villas and I told them of the man breaking into cars. They then told me of the theft of their computer and other electronic equipment from their apartment. I encouraged them to get renter's insurance ASAP. Lucky them, they signed for only 6 months, whereas I signed for a year.

When I moved in, my bathroom drains were clogged, my toilet overflowed twice (yummy, yummy) and my AC broke in July. They did respond to these items satisfactorily after a few phonecalls.

The Villas has an awesome movie theatre, probably one of the main reasons people are enticed into renting. The Villas remind me of a person who is beautiful on the outside, but quite barren and ugly within. The stone surface bricks are coming off the building currently. Guests or those without car hangtags will be towed unless they park in the area by the train in the back. Nice. I'd love to have my friend's car get towed while they are visiting me -- it would be a memorable experience!

Anyway, I was to have a party one afternoon in the recreation room. I had planned this in advance and had even double checked to make sure everything was going ok. The day of my party -- I had invited 50 or so people -- I couldn't reach any staff to let me in to the recreation room. No one was in the office and there was no notice posted of any kind. There was also a couple outside wanting to look at the Villas . . . I hope they felt the negative karma and decided to rent elsewhere. I called maintenance, the emergency line, the answering service . . . luckily a maintenance person responded and let me in so that I could begin preparation within minutes of my guests arrival. The person who was supposed to be working quit that day without notice. Hmmm . . . did he quit because it wasn't the best place to work'

One day, I went into the office to inform the office statff of the several times there have been beer bottles at the pool and some broken glass. I was informed that it wasn't their problem and they have signs posted not to have glass at the pool. Nothing like living at an apartment complex with staff who really don't care.

The dumpster is often overfilled and there is only one location on one end of the complex to dispose of trash. There is a train that goes by that sounds its horn. The train sounds/horn blowing are less noticeable in the summer with the AC on.

I would recommend this place to no one.

Sincerely, anonymous one-term Villas renter.
