Counting the days ...

Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2004
When I moved into Ventura (then The Marquis), it was perfect. The grounds were well-kept, the pool was great, the managers were nice and the maintenance was friendly and quick.
Since then, the management has changed more times than I can even remember. Last year I went in 3 times in one month and everytime I went in, there was an entirely different mgmt.
The grounds are barley kept up at all. I can't remember the last time the regularly mowed the grass ot trimmed the trees. There is dog s**t EVERYWHERE. Currently there is a drainage cover missing and it took them 3 days to "cover" it, which they did by placing a piece of plywood over it.
The residants have gone from just-out-of-college professionals to just-out-of-high-school punks. The cops are constantly coming over to break up fights and the residants are always having parties and playing on the basketball courts until 2-3am every night.
They have no security on sight and the entrance gate is always broken. Rather, the entrance gate works fine (as long as you happen to know the magic code to open it - which you have to go in and specifically ask for) but the exit gate is always open 24 hours a day - which kind of defeats the purpose of having a working entrance gate.
The maintenance workers are nice, but ineffective. I've had plaster falling from my roof and - after putting in 3 work requests - it still hasn't been fixed in 2 months. My sink leaks and they have been out to "fix" it 4 times in the past year - and it still leaks. My microwave broke and I had to wait 6 full months for them to fix it.
The management is simply unprofessional. The office never seems to be open during their stated hours. There have been many times that I've had packages to pick up and I've had to go in 3 seperate times for them to "find" them in their closet. Even though I've been there 4 years, they never remember me when I go in and never remember my apt. number.
Earlier the management lost their copy of my key and refused to change my lock - so everyday I have to hope that someone with my key doesn't just walk in and steal all of my belongings.
I've stayed as long as I have because the rent is inexpensive and it is a convenient location - but I've finally had enough. My lease is up in November and I'm truly counting not just the days but the hours until I can get out of this s**thole.
