My Water is off AGAIN
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 4/14/2006
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
Once again, we are without water for the day. It's gone from a slight nuisance to a big hassle. I now know that when walking to my front door, if there is a note on it, the water will be turned off tomorrow. This happens at least twice a month. They used to say "after this fix, we will have much better water (heat/pressure/etc..). Now they just say, "The water will be off, please plan to shower before this." No more promises or apologies.
The apartments have been under renovations since I moved in last summer. My lease is up soon and I am out of here.
On the plus sides, it's a beautiful property and area. People are respectful and not too noisy (It IS an apartment after all!). It's within walking distance to coffee spots, HEB, Blockbuster, anything you need, and great public transportation to anything not in the immediate area.
The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The few times I have had maintenance issues, they have been out quickly and actually fixed the problem, not just patched it cheaply.
I have NEVER seen a roach, but I do get little sugar ants if I leave any water on the counter.
My apartment overlooks a dry creek bed with huge shade trees, so it's never too hot, even in Austin's summers.
What else... Well since the apartments are filling up again (after the new management fixed the place up), parking is becoming a problem, and I have had to replace three tires from the construction work. I have started collecting the nails I find in the parking lot, hoping to save myself and others from flats.
Crime is not even close to being an issue, I walk at night, sometimes after ten and the area is really safe and friendly.
So yeah, rent here if you want, just know that your water bill will be at LEAST 28 bucks a month, once it was 45, and that was when they were shutting off the water for a few days at a time. It's high because you pay for the water used in construction and landscaping, pool, office, and the tiny apartments in the middle of the complex filled with five students per one bedroom. So the water is out of control with no plans on being fixed.
The new fitness center is coming along and looks really cool. They moved the mail facility to the middle of the complex so it's more convenient.
Ultimately I am leaving because of trashy neighbors above me, soaring water bills, and... just a change of pace. Good luck!
