I've lived in a 2 bedroom for about a year now. It's been about one year too long. It hasn't been really bad until about one month ago when my roommate and I discovered rat droppings all over the kitchen. We keep the apartment very clean so it's not like we're attracting them by leaving a mess. We called the office to call an exterminator and one came out. We caught the rat, but since then there has been 5 more caught and I've seen 3 at one time running around!! It is disgusting. We've told the office about it numerous times and they've sent out maintenance and put traps down which we've already done. We keep catching them but they keep coming! I'm sure there's a million holes that the rats are entering and it is an out of control infestation. However, the manager was very helpful and concerned and let us out of the lease early, so we're grateful for that.

The best thing you could do about the rat problem you had is to cover all of the openings and holes inside and outside your apartment. That will keep rats/mice out of your apartment. Rats and Mice are EVERYWHERE regardless how clean the area is! They just look for food to survive.
