Greystone... Westdale... still the same awfulness

Is awfulness a word' It is now. I have lived in this apartment complex for three years. I have an exceptionally high tolerance for bullsh*t. The second statement should explain the first. All of the negative complaints you read about this place are true: slow maintenance that normally takes several tries to get anything right, mold in the air vents, RATS (oh, tons and tons), shifty apartment management who believe that having an external locus of control (i.e. blame everything on the residents and it will go away) will erase all wrong doings. Sure, they have pulled a few favors for me in my second to last month of residency, but after three years of constant crap' They owe me.
My favorite story' Let's see... there was the time my nephew was terrified to get in my bath tub because of the rust spots and PEELING PAINT on in the inside of the tub (second week I lived here... obviously not my fault. Also, who PAINTS tubs')... there was the time my fiance killed a rat in our living room with his shoe... there was the time that rats chewed through my water line in my dishwasher making it flood my apartment... I remember now... My REAL favorite: The time the lawn maintenance kicked a rock at my sliding glass door with the lawnmower, shattering it. I LIVE ON THE GROUND FLOOR, AND IT TOOK THEM EIGHT HOURS TO GET ME A NEW DOOR. It was 9 PM before the thing got in. I am a female who is normally at home by herself at night; Things that don't make a good combination. And when I complained that I wanted a new door that night, the only comment I got was "Well, is it an important door'" I should say so.
The day I moved in, some guys from the apartment over came running out and said, "Don't move in here! Go somewhere else before it's too late!" Unfortunately, I thought they were kidding. The only reason I have been here for this long is because I'm a very busy person and I don't spend much time at home anyway. It would take too long to find somewhere else. But I can't take it anymore. You shouldn't either.

I don't think I would be posting a review that is so negative, think about it. These people have your personal information. It's like going to a resturant and getting upset with the waiter. Want spit in your food? When it comes to your home, sometimes its best to handle your problems in person. I have read what people said and I know at 6 residents here. So anytime there is an issue, set a time to talk with the management. A lot of these reviews are BS and I feel bad for the reviews that are true. I hope you will all learn from your mistakes.

Management Response: In response to this posting I only have a few things I would like to say. First in regards to the "painting of your bath tub" This is a process known as resurfacing. It is something that most management companies do. Resurfacing is very common among apartments. Bath tubs and tile are resurfaced as well as counter tops. Since some residents do not take care of their bath tub and tile and counter tops, we must do something. Since it is not cost effective to replace counter tops and bath tubs and redo tile every time someone new moves in. This is the alternative. Resurfacing does not always peel, but it can if either not done properly or if the previous resident did not take care of it. In regards to the door being replaced. It is unfortuante that the landscapers broke your patio door. Unfortunatly somethings like that happen. I also understand that by your standards 8 hours may seem like a long time. However, in this industry and any industry that is a very good turn around time. We do not keep patio doors in stock on the property, nor does most anyone else. I also have to ask myself that if the property was so bad, and you were so unhappy; then why did you decide to renew your lease, not once, but twice. Apartments are a dime a dozen, and it does not take all that much time to find a new one. It is unfortunate that your experience was not a good one, however I am sure that the management team did everything within their power to accomodate your needs. If you have any further needs that have not been met, I encourage you to talk to the Assistant Manager or the Manager of the property. I am sure they will help you out. Just like the person said in their response above.
