Management has vowed to answer every complaint on this site!

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
On a Feb 15, 2008 posting, someone from management claimed that they would answer every complaint on this site - ladies and gentlemen, this is what management does instead of fixing the MAJOR problems of this complex. And while management does have a point that this site tends to draw the unhappy tenant, if you all take a look around it, you will find very few with this low of a rating and this many reviews - I urge you to take heed of these warnings!! You'll notice there are over 200 reviews - I think there are only 200 apartments in this complex, so think about it!
Let me tell you my story of 9 months of Westdale hell - I cannot believe that these people can get up every morning and look at themselves in the mirror. I am a very busy professional but feel I must take the time to warn the public about this absurd eddy of garbage.
After we moved in, we discovered that our front door had previously been kicked in, damaging both door and jamb. It took MONTHS of diligent complaints for it to be replaced. The new door lock was loose and the metal plates on the jamb were never replaced leaving a lot of loose "play" when the door was "locked".
Half of our electrical outlets did not work and when we took it to management, they told us it would take 2 to 3 weeks to complete the work and would require us to move all of our stuff away from the walls (plus they would have to turn the electricity off to work on it) so they could tear out the sheet rock. O and by the way, we would still have to pay rent during that time.
When the de-scale was conducted, they told us we would be without water for 3 days and if we had any problems after that 3 days, then we should call the office - just like they do when they write responses on this site. Well, we got up the 4th day with no water and called the office - guess what' They CLOSED the office for Good Friday and would not respond to calls made to the answering service - hmmmmm., WHAT WOULD JESUS DO' The de-scale caused massive leaks - two of our neighbors had to have their floors jackhammered and the leak under the parking lot is still leaking - guess who's paying for the leaking water' OUR WATER BILL NEARLY DOUBLED after the de-scale and management refused to give refunds or breaks even though Westdale Pointe gave refunds to their tenants. And according to the City, there had not been a rate increase since January! AND the water was so dirty and murky, that it was completely unsuitable to drink or bathe in, so WE WERE EFFECTIVELY WITHOUT WATER FOR TWO WEEKS!
I've lived in a lot of places and I have never dealt with such an aggressively uncooperative management team: no one checks the quality of the work from maintenance or other contractors and it is completely sub-par; that is, if the work get done at all; complaints are met with scorn, sarcasm, and lying - o, AND THEY GOT INTO OUR MAILBOX! Which is a federal offense!
Even trying to move out was an ordeal. We were out by midnight of the 31st, and called to schedule a walk-through on the 1st, which they refused to do because they had over 20 move-outs - thankfully, I took extensive photos and we filled up our move-in inventory sheet. They threatened to charge me an extra day of rent because they didn't have the keys yet - this is at 9:15 am right when the office opens! They tried to say that we could do a walk through "mid-month" - after they had the keys for several weeks.
CITIZENS OF AUSTIN AND TEXAS, YOU HAVE RIGHTS: http://www.housing-rights.org/ This is a link to the Austin Tenants Council where you can find and read the law for yourself. I used the law myself to sue a former landlord and despite the fact that he brought his lawyer and we were in a conservative Dallas court, I prevailed. At least know your rights! Every apartment complex has problems and a lot of times you will find the same kinds of complaints from complex to complex, but each of us should consider are we being provided the VERY BASIC REQUIREMENTS of PLUMBING, ELECTRICITY AND SECURITY - both of home AND mailbox' IF not, you have a resource for recourse!
I also found this website - it has a few pictures - scroll down the page to see the water after the de-scale:
