I saw a sign yesterday reminding everyone to pay $5 for trash, and I was wondering if those of you who are on older leases (which don't contain a clause charging for trash) got the manager to agree not to charge you. If not, why' If it is just that she is on some wild power trip, call someone higher up in the management chain. My problem appears at the moment to have been solved due to a call to the more rational (and it appears actually mindful of the law) upper management. I'm not being overly optimistic, but you should at least try if you are getting nowhere with the main manager in the apt office.

Oh, and the manager gave me that refugee line as well the last time I spoke with her. She also said, before hanging up on me, "I don't know where you're getting your legal advice!" hahaha. (um, that would be 3 graduates from UT Law simply waiting on their bar results to be actual attorneys and, oh also, um...3 licensed attorneys who have been practicing law for several years)
I truly don't know how this woman sleeps at night!

Exactly. This woman is full of it. They cannot do this. They are trying to charge everyone and they are FLAT OUT LYING when they say you have to pay for it. The lease is explicit in saying they cannot do that. THAT WOMAN IS TRYING TO BULLY EVERYONE INTO PAYING! Does she really think they can just decide to start charging for something whenever they want? DON'T LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
