Westdale Pointe formerly Pointe at Woodhollow
< | >
I have lived at Westdale Pointe for about a year and was very surprised to see so many negative reviews. My experience with Westdale Pointe has been pretty good. The outside of the buildings are nice and the insides are pretty good. The buildings are older and can be a little creaky, but that is true of most complexes in this area. The units come with microwaves, which is nice if you don't have much stuff. They just renovated the laundry rooms and put in new, bigger machines.
A few points other people have brought up:
Cost. It's true that this is not the cheapest place you could live in Austin, but (at least last time I checked), the prices are similar to other complexes in the Far West area. It's just a more expensive location than some. Also, it is no bills included, so be aware that you will have to pay submetered bills for water, trash, gas, and pest control.
Water. I moved in around the time Westdale took over, so I'm not sure what happened when Dalcor owned this property, but my impression is there were a lot of times when there was no water or no hot water with no warning. This has not happened since I have lived here. There have been times when they had to turn the water off to make repairs, but they are always announced and in the middle of the day, so it's not a problem if you're gone for work or class during the day like most people.
Office staff. The office staff have always been polite and helpful to me when I have had questions or problems. It's true that some of them are not the friendliest in the world, but they are there to work, not to be your friends. And the office is open a full day on Saturday and a half day on Sunday, which is really nice if you work full time or otherwise have trouble getting into the office on weekdays. Maintence staff is professional and nice as well.

A note about the water. It has happened to some buildings. Some buildings never had problems it seems, some had them a lot (and still do). As for the office staff, well, I guess you've been lucky. The maintenance guy is truly great, and in my opinion the best thing about that complex. |
