I am a student at UT and lived here last year. Everything was great, so I decided to come back this semester. To my surprise, my apartment this year, although in the same building, was nothing like the one I had last year. I moved in 2 days ago and the apartment was definitely not ready for someone to move in. The air filter was so dirty that it looked like it had not been changed in a while. The only pro was the carpet, which looked pretty much new.

KITCHEN: First, I went in and the kitchen was very dirty. Counter tops were dirty, there were spider webs on the ceiling in the dining room, etc. As if that wasn't enough, the light bulb in the dining room was out. Since there are no light fixtures in the living room, it was pretty much all dark at night until they fixed it (today). To top it all off, I had a broken fridge at the time of move-in. The fridge was not working at all. Not only was the fridge extremely old and useles, but it smelled like fish, which means no one bothered to clean it. The dishwasher does not work properly, and all of the kitchen cabinets were dirty inside.

BATHROOM: The bathroom door knob was broken. The door would not even stay closed or latched. The screens in my bedroom window were missing, and the wall inside my bedroom closet are written on.

COCKROACHES: The worse part tohugh, are the cockroaches. I saw one or two in the kitchen and in the bathroom, so I decided to buy a roach spray called Bengal. I sprayed down the whole kitchen, inside cabinets and all, and the bathroom, and then left the house for a few hours for the spray to do its work. When I came back to the apt the kitchen floor looked like a battle field. There were more than 15 roaches on the floor, dead and upside down. When I saw that I went out and bought 2 more cans of that Bengal spray, which happens to be 13 bucks a can. I sprayed the whole apartment one more time and dead roaches appeared in the kitchen once more, and a couple in the carpet. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures.

MANAGEMENT: When I talked to the manager about the problem she looked surprised and she was funny enough to tell me that the apartment had been cleaned and that they were actually showing my apartment because it looked so nice and clean. Please, get real. They fixed today most of the problems, but I am calling the head quarters tomorrow morning.
