About a year ago, I started living at Wildwood and it seemed like a fine place. The leasing office had bragged that it was the 'Austin Apartment Association 2005 Property of the Year!' and the apartment itself was pretty nice. Then, some things happened.

First, for a gated community that supposedly has APD on the grounds, there was a lot of crime. My car was personally broken into twice while I was there and drug dealers roamed the complex freely offering coke and meth. Second, there was always some level of upkeep being done to the complex that made being there inconvenient. For example, at the beginning of our lease, they repaved the parking lot TWICE, and there were some times that it was impossible to find a parking spot in a community where there's a lot of parking. Also, the landscaping people were out all the time making all kinds of noise instead of on just a specific day of the week, which made it kind of frustrating to sleep. Third, the noise level is incredibly high - people are always hanging out in the parking lot at all hours of the night, including people driving in listening to loud music at full volume. Also, the complex was advertised as being close to a UT shuttle line, which it sort of is, but it is a huge hassle getting over there - so much so I ended up just driving to school for a year, which was a total pain.

It's really a shame, because the apartment itself is pretty good and the staff is pretty nice, but the conditions surrounding the apartment are not savory. I do not recommend living here.

It's definitely not like that anymore. I guess something happened right before I got here, because none of the problems that people are describing exist (that is, if you're a responsible adult and take care of yourself).
