We moved into woodchase apartments mainly for a better location for walking places as we don't have a car, it is close to CVS, sun harvest, walgreens, lowes, there's lots of other shops and restaurants within about a mile circular walking distance which is good for us. The apartment complex main office and club house and pool areas are well taken care of and the management and maintenance people are really nice and friendly.

we have a top floor apartment... the main living/dining room area is long and narrow and there is a big fireplace at one end which is annoying as it takes up pretty much a whole wall, (it has a 1 foot high brick base which sticks out also)... so that limits furniture arrangement and also means the 1 thin window and sliding balcony door are together in the corner so only one corner of the apartment is lit with natural light, it is very dark and dungeon like.
we were allowed to paint the walls in a color (within reason) of our choice which i thought was cool... but because of the light issue we had to go with basically creamy white which apartments are usually painted in anyway so it defied the point really.

The apartment itself is not bad, its clean, only seen 2 roaches (and a very persistent wasps nest) since we been here but sprayed some raid around and haven't seen any others. The problem we had is we made the mistake of moving from a very nice 838sq foot, light and airy apartment, with a washer and dryer inside it, to a smaller(700sq foot), darker apartment. We were spoiled by our other one but this is not a bad apartment, was the best complex we found.

The problems with the apartment are that is not very well insulated, i feel air round the window and see daylight under the door so noise penetrates really easily, dragging bags of laundry down 3 flights of stairs is not a fun task and you have to constantly stock pile quarters, i wish there was a change machine in the office or the laundry room.. the washing/drying machines frequently break and people are selfish and ignorant and leave their clothes in them for ages so there are none free... its like a lottery trying to pick a good time to do laundry.

the noise is the biggest problem... everyone seems to be selfish and ridiculous about making lots of noise, from people playing loud music at all hours, to neighbours having drum kits in their apartment which you can hear loudly. when someone walks or runs upstairs it shakes the living room, people have parties in and outside their apartments at all hours, talking, laughing and screaming loudly and there also seems to be a number of people with small yappy dogs that take them for walks late at night and let them bark loudly (some people don't pick up after their dog either).

to continue with the noise issue... we live pretty much over the pool and i will never do it again, its not so bad now as its winter but during the summer months it was a nightmare and i really wanted to strangle some people... kids screaming there all day and evening, adults there laughing and shouting till sometimes 2am, one night we were even woken up by some college kids who had climbed over the locked gate to get in, they were screaming and splashing and laughing and shouting at 5am, i went and yelled at them and threatened to call the police.

so basically its the washer/dryer aspect, the noise issue of paper thin walls, and living by the pool that i hate... oh and the back gate to the complex is locked randomly which is really really annoying and there's no pedestrian gate separate so you either have to climb over or walk like quarter of a mile around to the main entrance

to sum up... the apartment complex is a nice, friendly place, the management and maintenance staff are quick at getting things fixed (but they don't like replacing things, carpet was dirty when we moved in, fridge makes really annoying noises etc)
things do break, my garbage disposal is terrible and keeps breaking. but when you tell them about things they generally (unless there's some emergency like everyones air con goes out in summer etc) they get someone there the same day.

i would recommend this complex to others but advise against it if you want peace and quiet.. would advise don't live near the pool (or the trash cans as the garbage collectors are crazy noisy), and don't bring lots of stuff as storage and space is an issue

this apartment complex is ridiculous with regard to the people who live here, everyone i have come across seems to be an ------- with no regard for anyone but themselves, from people having screaming arguments, throwing things, slamming doors late at night and stomping up and down stairs... to people with drum kits, playing music excessively loud (with their balcony door open to make sure every other poor bastard could hear it) at night, and all the in between including people being at the pool day and night, and laundry is an absolute nightmare... don't move here unless you like living in a college student dorm.

I Agree, my friend lives here and his car got STOLEN!!! Not repo but stolen!!! that is crazy! There is also a guy that lives in the back corner that steals peoples bike tires off this place & other communities around the neighborhood! The cops cannot do anything b/c he is not on the lease here so "they cannot go inside the apartment that he is staying with"
