Screeching harpee of a manager. Watch the exodus take place.

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2009

For the last 5 years my wife and I have had a relatively descent time at Woodchase. That all went to pot this last summer when new management took over. Previously the old management was great. They genuinely enjoyed working there and interacting with the residents. One in particular was outstanding. When the new management took over they fired everyone and replaced them with their own people. Standard procedure I guess but a huge mistake. The apartments had problems, the traffic noise was really loud and vandalism and car break-ins were semi-frequent but the management took what steps they could to fix everything as best as they were allowed. This latest string of break-ins my wife's car was broken into. She went to report it to the office so that they could maybe put up a sign on the mailbox or start verbally informing residents that this was going on to make sure to lock your doors and bring in all your valuables. She was trying to be helpful and neighborly. When the manager heard what my wife was saying she popped out of her chair in the back office and started to screech, "That's not our responsibility. We don't have to do that. It's in your contract you. Need to read your contract. We can't be held responsible for this. My wife expected nothing from the manager. We both know what can happen when you live in a commercial district in the middle of town. She did, however, expect not to be screeched at about reading a contract and brow beaten like a 6 year old about to be put in the corner.
Since this event we have met multiple residents that we saw in passing but never talked to that have had similar experiences. Some of the elderly residents have told me how mean and impolite the manager is and how they would rather move to a rest home than be treated in that manner. Our complex has become more of a community based on our common hatred of this new manager. I guess the old adage is true. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Of the 50 or so people I have spoken with about 30 of them are planning to move in the next few months. The others have been push over the edge and are looking at legally breaking their lease by buying a house. That's what we did. If you lease there make it a short stay. There are way too many NICE apartments with tons of amenities for the same money or less because of the housing market. I know because I also have an apt. in Austin. I am telling you watch the exodus begin. And all of this began because of the the manager's bad attitude.
