I was really excited about moving in to these apartments. The layout is great, and the apartments are a good size, and I loved all the trees in the area. ------- in the office is super nice and very helpful - she's half the reason Woodhollow became my final destination. The location is also great, with lots of places in walking distance.
There has been no end to the problems we are having here, though:
* Shortly after moving in I discovered that the last tenants ended their lease due to a rat infestation. I have not seen rats yet, but we do seem to have a huge problem with roaches; they've been spotted repeatedly, even after a visit from an exterminator.
* I've had repeated problems with the dishwasher making my dishes dirtier than they started, and the dryer always takes at least 2 times to actually dry a load. Maintenance has come to look at these on multiple occassions, and maintenance keeps telling us the problem is fixed, but we're still dealing with old, broken appliances.
*One huge problem is that the electrical outlets are all so old that plugs won't actually stay in them - there are frequent sparks & issues with plugs falling out of the wall repeatedly. The wiring in these places is horrible & our stairwell light frequently just doesn't turn on.
* Another repeated issue is the water - at least once a month the water is either turned off entirely or there is no hot water. This generally lasts for a couple days.
* Maintenance seems to lie a lot instead of just telling the tenants what's going on. When we first moved in we had no hot water for a week. Maintenance told me that he'd turned the heat up on my apartment's water heater and everything would be working fine soon. It turned out that each building is on one big water heater, and it's not possible to turn it up for just one apartment, and the new story was that we just had to wait for the water to get to our apartment since it had set empty for so long. (We later found out that it hadn't actually been empty for very long at all.) Recently during another water outage we were told by maintenance that he'd already fixed the problem and we'd be up&running within 3 hours. 15 hours later the water still wasn't running and we were told that a plumber had just gotten there to work on it, and it would be back up as soon as he was finished. We were without water for the entire weekend.
* One of the reasons I loved this property was for the trees. They recently started doing property "upgrades" which actually involved cutting down a lot of those trees, including the one in my front yard that blocked all the sun & kept my living room cool. This was important since my apartment is apparently one of the few that still doesn't have a fan in the living room.
* While doing these property "upgrades" a tree smashed through the glass table top on my patio. This was reported to management, but a month later the table top has still not been replaced AND the shattered glass still has not been picked up. I was told that it wasn't their responsibility, but they'd contact the company that did it.
* The sliding glass doors do not actually slide. It's a huge struggle to get them to open or close, and the glass actually pulls apart from the frame while you are doing this. Possibly why we get so many roaches and mosquitos in the apartment.
* The walls are ridiculously thin. The wall to one bedroom is actually just a sheet of drywall, so all noise carries with zero interference from that room to the living room. This makes it impossible to have company over or watch a movie without disturbing whoever is in the room above. You can also hear almost all of your neighbors activities.
* Ventilation in the apartment is horrible. Whenever someone sprays perfume or smokes in one room it blows through the AC directly into the other room.
* ---- in the office is NOT friendly & helpful. She's very curt & bordering on rude - I always feel very rushed off the phone or out of the office when dealing with her.
I keep hoping things will get better, because I really WANT to love living here, but things just seem to keep getting worse. I was hoping this would be somewhere I could live for a few years, but I am already planning for a move at the end of my lease.

The Orkin man told me the reason for the roaches and I relayed that information to you. He also stated that if the conditions remained the same, that his treatments that were laid down would not do much good.

Thank you for bringing these items to our attention. I would like to sit down personally and review every concern you have listed. While doing our upgrades around the property we discovered diseased trees or ones that were damaging the buildings. This was the case with the one on your patio. To make up for the tree loss we have installed new landscaping all over the property. We want to make you happy in every aspect so I will be contacting you immediately to meet with you and your roommate.

I used to live at Woodhollow Apts last year. Most of your criticisms of the location are spot on with my experiences, especially the roaches, thin walls, and frequent disruptions of water service. I can recall seeing water running in the parking lot from a busted water main for days before action was taken to fix it. Seems like the problem hasn't been fixed. All the while I lived there, I wondered how much of my water bill accounted for the leaky pipes. I never could get a straight answer.
