From the exterior Woodmeade isn't very appealing. It has been around for awhile and it shows. Aside from its appearance, it is a really nice place to live.
Originally I was drawn to Woodmeade because of the affordable rent. After seeing how large the apartments were, I was sold. Compared to my friends who live in various complexes around the Riverside/Oltorf area...I have much more square footage and I pay much less.
My roommate and I share a 2bed/2bath. The rooms have 2 closets(one walk-in), and a decent size bathroom with a very large tub. The kitchen is okay...the appliances are ancient. We have learned to wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.
We've had a few problems with bugs...ants in the bathroom and an occasional big scary roach/waterbug. Nothing that bug spray couldn't fix.
The biggest complaint I have about this place is the noise. We are on the 1st floor and can hear almost every step they take above us. Also If you don't have a car alarm, there is a 99.9% chance that your car will be broken into. My roommate, my boyfriend, and myself have all had our cars broken into in the Woodmeade parking lot. Some of our neighbors even had there entire car stolen.
The staff is great. They are very friendly and understanding. They seem to really care about their tenants. The grounds are well kept including the two pools.
I would recommend Woodmeade if you need something affordable and you don't mind the wear that shows from its age. The big trees are a big plus that you don't see at the newer places. Woodmeade is definitely worth checking out.
