Woodmeade is a good value. The apartments seem rather old, both on the inside and out, but they are in good shape and reasonably attractive. The complex is surrounded by trees, and has a nice atmosphere. Compared to my old complex, Campus Estates, the neighbors here are generally quieter, and they act more civilized. There are almost never loud parties lasting until 4 in the morning with people yelling, fighting and trashing the place. The apartment also offers monthly pest control; I have never had a problem with bugs in the apartment. The prices are inexpensive for what you get: a good-sized 1/1 currently costs $505 a month, and includes an oven, freezer, refrigerator, central a/c, two closets, and a nice bathtub.

The main downside is the complex's Riverside location, which means there's a good chance your car will be broken into sooner or later. There are also no gates or security that I know of to discourage thieves. I have heard of problems with muggings in the past; single women especially might want to take this into consideration. Also, the price of the apartment does not include cable TV, internet, or a washer/dryer. Laundry facilities are next to the front office, but can become expensive if you wash a lot of clothes. In addition, I can sometimes hear footsteps and creaking noises in the apartment above me, which I guess is due to thin floors/ceilings.

All in all, though, I have enjoyed living here, and would certainly recommend it to more serious students or young professionals who aren't looking for a party.

EDIT: I mentioned earlier that I had never had pest problems. In the past month or so, I have noticed many black ants and a couple of cockroaches.

It's on Oltorf and Wickersham, not Riverside. Which even though just one street over, seems to make a world-of-a difference (in a good way). Also, I've lived here for almost 3 years and have never once heard of "muggings" or rumors of such in/near the complex. Maybe a few car break-ins, but that's about it. As far as bugs, I've seen a few baby roaches, but it's usually right after the pest control guy sprays. (Ugh, I hate bugs...)
