The Worst at Manchaca

This place is awful. I'm counting down the days until my lease is up and I can finally correct the bad decision I made by leasing here. I do have to give a little credit to the new manager as it appears that she seems to care about the tenants and is at least trying to correct some of the problems, although without success. I have a feeling that the true slumlords at the "corporate" office (it's a family run "management company" based off S. Congress) aren't giving her the means and support and are just happily collecting checks every month. It almost makes you feel bad for her.
Maintenance is an absolute joke. It takes several days for them to even respond to an issue and then it usually takes multiple attempts to correct the problem. A resolution is generally two to three weeks (if at all) from the first report. Again, it isn't that the maintenance men are incompetent - it's just that they are responsible for multiple aging properties. On top of that it seems the policy of the "management company" is to put a band aid on the problem by attempting to replace it with an already broken, used part. When that doesn't work they attempt to replace it with another already broken, used part. If you're lucky you might get a used part that actually holds for a few months.
I'm a clean person and my apartment is professionally cleaned every other week. Yet pests are a major problem. Rodents, bugs - you name it and I've found it dead and alive in my unit. I have no idea what they do when they set traps and spray, but it clearly isn't working. "Management" had previously used the reasoning that woods are located behind the apartment and therefore pests can't be controlled. This is total BS. I've lived in apartments in Austin that are isolated and surrounded by nature and never had the kind of pest problem I have now.
Don't get fooled by the spacious units and cheap rent. It is not worth the headache. The next few months can not come fast enough. I also fully expect the slumlords at the top to keep every penny of the giant deposit I put down even though I have done absolutely no damage to the unit. They just give the impression of being that kind of company. DO NOT MOVE HERE.
