Lost my deposit

I lost a $300 deposit when a few days after I paid the deposit my contract assignment suddenly was cancelled by the owner of the contract, not my employer. My move-in date was 3 weeks or more away at the time, and I promptly contacted the manager at Camden to inform her about what happened and requested a refund of my deposit since I would now not be relocating to Baytown from another state. The manager was insensitive and unyielding. You might say, that's business. I say, that's bad business. I offered to submit a letter from my employer confirming waht had happened, but the manager was inflexible. Maybe they are paid based on how much money they collect in return for the least amount of service rendered. Oh well.
