My daughter and her fiance who live in Huntsville woke up to fire in their apartment at the Brazos Apartments early morning Friday, 12/20/02. Fortunately, as a result of my daughter waking up, getting out and alerting the other tenants in the 16-unit building, there were no injuries or loss of life.

The fire resulted from a faulty heating system according to the fire department. It started just below their unit. Their apartment was deemed a total loss, however, there are many belongings still in the unit which might be salvageable. Problem is the unit needs to be "shored up" before anyone can go in to retrieve these items. The apartment manager just says she doesn't know what the process is, that her Supervisor is working on it.

I have attempted to contact her Supervisor, Andy Burns with Burns Properties in Beaumont who will not take nor return my calls. I've left four messages beginning 12/26/02 that we would just like to know where we are in this process, what the timetable might be, and what has been done thus far to get there.

As of this writing 01/01/03, Mr. Burns has chosen not to return my calls. When considering leasing from this management company, I would suggest you go elsewhere!
