Anal-Retentive and Unprofessional

I had a bad experience with Burns that was beyond ridiculous. We spent a long weekend out of town. We got home late, tossed our luggage on the couch and went to bed. We woke up the next morning and started doing laundry. The laundry room/closet is in the living room. So, we make a few piles of dirty clothes and go about our day. I was planning on taking the luggage to the garage when I went to work later in the afternoon, so the luggage was piled by the back door. So, my wife and I took a break and were eating lunch in the living room in front of the TV when the doorbell rang. It was the landlord for some ridiculously random thing that could have been handled over the phone. We invite her in and tell her "Pardon the mess, we got in from out of town late last night and we are doing a lot of laundry." She didn't say anything but all she cared about was piles of dirty clothes in the living room waiting to be washed, luggage stacked by the back door, and our lunch on the coffee table. The next day we got a notice for violation of lease stating that every time the landlord visited our home it was dirty and needed to be clean. We couldn't believe it. We are not messy people, we keep a clean house, we were in the middle of recovering from a long weekend and we get treated like messy children, it was infuriating. The only other time she came into our home was about a week after we moved in. So yes, the place was a disaster because we were still unpacking and arranging the house. A few short hours after the landlord left we could have invited the Pope over for dinner. The terms of the lease say "apartments must be kept clean; trash must be disposed of weekly" It does NOT say "your dwelling must be in perfect, inspection ready condition 24 hours a day, anal-retentive neat freaks will inspect your dwelling whenever they please."

And maintenance is just downright terrible. You have to call and call and call to get something taken care of. I had a problem with a clogged toilet. No one ever came, I had to buy a few bottles of extra strength Draino and spend a few days doing it myself.
