I find that some people use this forum as a way to "release". I don't think that is a fair assessment of what the apartments truly are like. I lived in the largest one bedroom that was one level. Here is what I experienced with the HIGHS and the LOWS:
I was on the second floor, and yes, I had a tremendously high electric bill ($300 before the rate increases), but I also had TALL vaulted ceilings that I knew about before I moved in. And I like to be comfortable (70-72 degrees), which I will admit on the second floor was a little more difficult that I expected.
I knew that they accepted all types of animals. I even asked one guy if I needed to get him a plastic bag to help pick up after his pet. After that, I had no problems.
I LOVED my size- the bedroom was awesome, the bathroom was comfortable, I had 2- count 'em- TWO good sized closets, and I had a full sized w/d area off my kitchen. What I didn't have was a comfortable diningroom area- a little cramped for my larger table, I didn't like the overhead microwave- it steamed up when I cooked on the stove, and I didn't like that the fireplace stuck out so far. There is however a set up that I found works. If you put the tv system on the wall that backs to the bedroom and the couch on the wall that back to the stairs- it sounds odd but it was definitely more comfortable.
I would cring when I received my water bills. They were so high that I wanted to take out a loan to pay ($55 to $75 on average). I was told that they were only about $20-25 a month. The leasing agent was full of it. She was also the manager, but I didn't know it at the time.
I paid $2.50 per person monthly to put my trash in a compactor by myself every month. I didn't like this because there is only one trash compactor/dumpster for the entire side of the property. It sucked.
I LOVED the work out room. It is huge and awesome and fantastic and I can't say enough about it. But there is NO TV, and the radio rarely worked, so bring headsets or ipod.
I didn't like that they upped the price of the laundry rooms while I was there. I used them only twice and my laundry was stolen. It was sad. But there was a TV and sitting area and it made time go by faster.
I felt COMPLETELY 100% comfortable getting my mail at 11pm at night, which happens to be the time I used to get home from work.
I only had issues with my covered parking from my downstairs neighbors. They thought that since I was gone a lot, they could use my space without asking also. When they didn't answer there door after I came home from a trip, it took only one time for their car to be towed for them to NEVER do it again.
I loved my security alarm inside the apartment. I could go away on trips for weeks and I didn't feel like I was left exposed. And the City of Bedford fee was cheap, and I only paid $19/mo for it to be monitored.
Maintenance- well, Stan is the MAN. I don't know if he is there anymore, but he was "Johnny-on-the-spot" when I needed anything done.
Management- I could kick that girls butt for lying about the price of the water bill. I also could kick her butt when she told me that I wouldn't have to worry about so much or the interruptions. Well, they were the interruption. I had a cat that tried to attack the management staff (Stan, actually) the first time they tried to do one of their monthly surprise "inspections". After that, I was always home when they were coming. They let him out one time. I came home, and my cat, Butch, was sleeping on my balcony waiting for me. He had jumped up there from my front door stairs.
Now here is the only incredibly bad thing that I have to say about AonFR, my first week in the apartment, I had a repo man come to the door for the previous resident. When I didn't answer it, because I didn't know who he was, he easily climbed from my stairs onto my balcony and tried to look inside my apartment. I was scared, and I called the police and then management. This was about 11am on a Tuesday morning in broad daylight.
Well, sorry for the book, and I am even more sorry to hear that people aren't having the great time that I did living there. If you have a problem with the property, and your on-site management is not helping, then call the corporate office. You can even send a letter. Read your lease. You have rights and you need to be aware of them. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
