I too know someone who used to live in this complex. They were not shown their apartment when the lease was signed. When they tried to view the apartment, it was a mess. It was not painted and the carpet was filthy. NOTHING had been done to make this apartment ready for move-in. The management expected them to do the make ready themselves. They asked for repairs and they were told that the maintenance staff had quit. We contacted the City of Bedford code enforcement department and we mentioned that it was Sterling Falls. Their response was "Oh, Them." They laughed and proceeding to give us the full blown saga of Sterling Falls and their code violations. Stacy can deny this all she wants.

My suggestion is that you contact City of Bedford Code Enforcement and they can give you the lowdown. I tried to help my friend get their apartment ready and was so nauseated by the pet smell in the carpet. Other tenants have mentioned things like ceilings caving in. This is not a routine maintenance issue. While my friend was trying to move in several Air Conditioners quit. Tenants were told that there had to be a certain number of units malfunctioning before they would place a service call to their vendor, and then only after obtaining a Purchase Order from the Corporate Office.
This complex should be called Sterling Falling Down. It's MO seems to be taking advantage of people that cannot qualify at a real apartment complex. They take advantage of people that do not have an option of going elsewhere.

I also viewed the notice that was left on apartment doors about canceling leases and requiring the residents to sign a new lease at market rate. This is absolutely true. I have read the letter as have others. I too thought it was illegal but considering the Management Company and the management, this is expected. It also is funny that the management company blames Hurricane Katrina for it's problems since they used to be located in Metairie, LA. These abuses have been ongoing. One last thing, Stacy, what management book are you using' "How to screw tenants that don't know better!!!!!'''''" What do you think this is Communist Poland during the 80's.
