trains and roommates.... both sucked!

I transferred to A&M at the last minute and thought I'd have trouble finding a place, so when I found Aggie Station I was thrilled. It's a beautiful complex, management was nice, and it was fully furnished. Also, I really liked that it had individual leases so I didn't have to worry about my roomies paying rent (esp. since I had no idea what they'd be like becuase I was doing roommate matching.)

The visitor parking is quite insufficient but can be worked around -just don't park illegally -you WILL be towed.

One thing I failed to notice when I checked out the place was the train tracks! And they are frequently used!!!! Trains rattled my apartment multiple times daily and if watching t.v. or talking, you'd have to wait for it to go by. It was loud, and super annoying!!!!!!

Overall the complex itself was fine, and shouldn't be much trouble so long as you know you're roommate in advance. I would never in my life recommend roommate matching to anyone!!!! A little more money would have been worth my peace of mind! Roommate matching was about the worst thing I could have done there. They give you a profile form and tell you that it is a contract with the apt. and if you don't live how you say you will according to the profile, they could evict you. They also say they won't match you unless you are a "great" match with the other ppl. Apparently, the only question they go by is smoking preference. And my roomie lied saying she was a non-smoker yet smoked inside. When I confronted the mgmt. I was simply told to come in together and fill out a roommate agreement form (ummm...wasn't that the profile'!) My roommate never went with me, so I had no way of "forcing" her to smoke outside. As other more serious problems arose I was never helped. Even though I was not in the wrong... I would have still had to pay $200 just to move into another room at the complex.

In closing, if you can live with loud trains, and a roommate of your choice, Aggie Station is a nice place to stay. It comes with tanning beds free of (additional) charge, a 24 hr. computer room, nice management, quick maint.guys, fully furnished, etc. etc....
