Doesn't live up to the hype

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I was really excited to sign a lease at Reveille Ranch, but this apartment didn't meet my expectations. I really liked the fact that it was furnished and we had a huge TV in the living room. The bedroom furniture was particularly nice, especially compared to other furnished apartments. The screened porch was really nice as well.
Parking was one of the worst problems. If you go out at all, you're guaranteed to come back and spend twenty minutes driving around looking for a spot. Almost everyone speeds in the parking lot, and then on the weekend, it gets worst with the drunk drivers. I can't even remember how many people had their cars hit in the parking lot. I always tried to park on the side, even though it was farther away from my building, I didn't want to risk someone hitting my car. I think the police were there a few nights a week due to some kind of car accident or fighting. Also, there's only one large dumpster for the entire complex, and it's in the very back, so you have to drive your trash to the dumputer. My roommmates were lazy and would wait longer to throw the trash, so the inside of the apartment always smelled bad.
The computer lab was pretty nice--I always provided my own paper, and the printer worked 95% of the time. Someone from the office would usually come to fix it when it wasn't working right.
The inside of the apartment is arranged a little weird. In a 4/4, there's one bedroom near the front of the apartment, and then you can find the three other ones after walking down a long awkward hallway that has randomly placed mirrors to make the hallway "look bigger," but it's really just creepy because you can see someone coming in the mirror before you actually see them. I lived in bedroom C, which you pay a little extra for per month, but it's much bigger than the other rooms, so I thought it was worth it. The private bath is nice also. The closet space was okay, but kind of cramped.
Overall, this place is not awful. There are worse places to live. We had some bug problems, (mostly spiders and junebugs), but I guess that happens at most apartments. Management was not very friendly, but as long as you don't have to deal with them on a daily basis, it's something that you can put up with. The electricity is set up where you have to buy it and put it on a card, and then you swipe it in a little box in your utility room. This seems like it could be a good idea if you end up with good roommates, but one of mine contributed less than $5 the entire year. When you run out of electricity, they shut down your power.
The coveted security system was ineffective. The gates were broken most of the time, and the cards you use to swipe in were always messed up. My name got deleted from the system several times, and I had to log in with a guard each time I came in late. The security guards do patrol the grounds though, which made me feel safer.
Good luck if you live here. I've lived in worse apartments, but I'm living in a better one now.
