Section 8 Housing Has Better Lawn Maintenance
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 2/28/2004
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
I moved to Willow Oaks only because they agreed to work with me and my pending move because of a new job. I paid $100 more a month just to get a six-month lease. The resulting rent was quite high for the accomodations. The manager was not as helpful, as they initially promised, when it came time to "break the lease."
They told me the best way to get out of my lease was to pay the reletting fee and a month's rent. They asked for my address to forward the deposit to, but a $0 refund statement came in the mail.
I paid them MORE MONEY to get out of my lease than I would have paid to keep and maintain my apartment for the remaining two months. It took weeks for me to "break even" with them.
Other Problems:
*Horrible yardwork - sidewalks not edged or trimmed, overgrown weeds; this place has not seen a WeedEater.
*BUGS!!! - baby roaches inside, spiders galore, big cockroaches outside
*Inefficent AC unit - highest utility bill I've ever had at any apartment
*Maintenance requests not recorded - office lost maintenance requests while I was there
*Bad paint job
*Broken fences
*Swimming pools not up to par
Pros:
*Most of the office staff was as accomodating as they could be, save the manager
*Covered parking
*Quiet party-free environment
