Location good... apt construction shoddy

Moved out of Ballantrae a few months ago. The location was nice with food shopping possibilities everywhere, fitness in the area, and decently close to all thing in North Dallas. Ballantrae allow pets and pretty large dogs as well which is super. I have to say that I didn't find the left over poop to be extreme but it existed -- not to the degree of some of the other posts, but tenants do come and go.
I was VERY disappointed with how poorly built the apartments were. I lived on the 2nd floor, garage underneath, (no floors above), when I would shut my front door our back wall would vibrate. Our bedroom would rattle everytime the neighbors garage door opener (which was beneath us) would open/close. The outer walls are paper thin and the windows consist of single pane glass. Toss in a cheap fireplace setup and this equals big time AC loss during the summer. Not to mention that the AC unit was a teeny-tiny thing from the early 80's which kept our apartment luke-warm (80 degrees during the day) this, mind you is on full blast "ON" not "AUTO". 1 bedroom apt, $150 for electricity per month.
We also rented W/D units from Ballantrae. The idea was a decent one until we saw the units themselves. Looked to be at least 15-20 years old. The dryer didn't dry even a medium load completely on the first go-around which meant two cycles per load. Again, more $$$ for electricity.
The repair men were nice and the front office ladies as nice as expected but nothing out of the ordinary. When asking about the A/C and W/D units was always met with a unfriendly glare and fake smile, "Hey!' You signed the contract, deal with it."
You could find a lot worse than Ballantrae in the Carrollton area, but you can also find more for a lot less with none of the frustrations.
Unless the price drastically falls and you enjoy living in a very warm-tepid A/C environment, I would look somewhere else.
Oh by the way. If you don't rent a unit with a garage then parking is quite difficult and you will be walking to your apartment. Visitors for the most part must park at the entrance and walk from there.
