Should Have Moved Here First....

I couldn't get out of my last apartment fast enough. True I only moved ten minutes down the road to where I live now, but wow what a difference. When I look at prospective apartments, I'm not looking for much. Just a nice place to live and nice neighbors. Nothing overly fancy and nothing obscure or unusual about my neighbors. I just have to say that I lucked out.

The Hillside Community is a very good apartment complex. About average size, and a very well maintained property. The buildings are well cared for with brick exteriors. I don't know how old the complex is but it has aged very well. The interiors are just as nice. As both units I looked at looked, and the one I now occupy, appear as if they were brand new and not several years old. Square footage is very generous, I've got a vaulted ceiling with an overhead fan in the living room where I can actually use it. And my kitchen also has a built in overhead microwave which I use instead of my tiny microwave which dates back to Montgomery Ward days. The baloncy is also comparitively large and looks out over the pool and surrounding grass area which is very nice.

The grounds are very lovely. Lush green grass, full grown trees and spaces to relax and enjoy. The units are side by side with each other but they enjoy an overly large courtyard rather than just a sliver of land.

The parking lot is very nice and smooth as if it was newly poored. I definetly don't feel like I'm driving off road here like at some complexs I looked at. And parking is ample, which is important for someone whom has a nice car and doesn't take kindly to people parking to close to it and dinging it (which happened a week after I moved into my former place).

My neighbor made an effort to introduce herself. And I've never had any trouble with any of my neighbors, which for me is a nit-picky point because of the hours I work, nights, so I sleep during the day and early evening. They're not shouting across the courtyard at each other like they were at my former complex and the people whom use the pool are curtous and concious of the fact that other people are near by.

Maintenance is very good!! I say this from experience because during a recent cold snap my unit cracked a pipe under the bathroom sink. It was cracked just enough to put a pan under it on a Saturday and I reported it figuring they wouldn't get to it until Monday. Then I went out on errands. Not only did they fix the pipe, but I also had a new faucet to go with it as it cracked at the connection to the faucet. I've never experienced weekend maintenance short of an outright flooding of the unit.

The only thing bad I'd have to say about the complex is the proximity to the local fire station up the road and around the corner. I'm dug into the complex so I don't get a lot of noise from the major road, Old Denton Rd. But if you've ever heard the scream of a fire engine's siren you know how loud they are and this is a busy station house. But it's tolerable because it's only occasionally, and reassuring in knowing just how close they are if I ever have an emergency.
