Stop Turn & RUN RUN RUN!!!

I lived at Lakeside for a long time. (I moved in when it had a previous owner & a different manager) My apt. was beautiful! I had a glass mirror across my dining room. Then came a new owner & new manager. Winter came, and the heat upstairs worked but downstairs,it was warmer outside than inside. No, they didn't do anything about it! I later found they had my pipes running to the apt. next door. Evidently a manager/maintenence person had a friend living there, and why should they pay electric when they can charge me for it. One September, I was without a/c for a month, and received a $300.00 electric bill. (Cooling the apt next door with my downstairs a/c.) I had to plant my own grass because they didn't/wouldn't. When other residents were mad because I had grass, they forced the apts. to plant, so the mgmt. started treating me like crap. Yes, they do have a jacuzzi, just like they advertize,(neigher has worked in years). If you want drugs, roaches, problems, and gossip, move in today! I had a fire on my stove because the burner handle broke, and the maintenance guy fixed it with a piece of paper! That is the TRUTH! Paper on a stove after a fire. He said the handle was loose, so he put paper in there to tighten it up. Smart right' They tried to charge me for it too! I didn't pay. Also, look at the locals before you go in. You'll understand. I think the police are there at least once a day, sometimes more. I will say this though, toward the end of my stay, a lady had problems paying her rent, and the manager did work with her. I guess if you are going to lease to those kinds of people, you expect these things, right' After I moved, I drove by one day, and saw them painting this horrible brown on the buildings, (I didn't know ANYTHING could be so ugly.) I thought it was primer! I was wrong wrong wrong. All I can say is that paint must have been on sale. (I wonder why)
If you buy groceries, you better eat them before you go to bed, because if not, the roaches & ants will finish it for you. (Actually, that was the case when I lived there.) Hopefully things have changed. You have to understand something though; people can talk about the manager all they want. When you get down to it, all she does is interpret the owner/tenant relationship and acts accordingly with the tools they give her to work with. If the manager thinks you need new carpet, paint, & sink.........if the owner says no, she says no. It's not up to her, it's up to him. HE ISN'T GOING TO SPEND A DIME! You have to go to India (I think) to find out what he is doing with his money, because you can look & see that he doesn't spend alot of it there. When I left, I was certain that within 1 year that place would become section 8, then I gave it some thought. That will never happen, because you have to meet certain quality standards to qualify to receive section 8 subsidised licensure from the government. Those standards have not been met to my unprofessional knowledge, as I have no experience with the program or laws governing same. I did know the manager somewhat when I lived there, her name was Deborah. I butted heads with her from time to time because my Highland Park upbringing didn't match the environment there. I think Deborah is a good manager with an extreme capability, but she is limited by the owners. This makes her look bad, but in reality, she isn't. We are all bound by our own ties. She is tied to people who don't want to throw alot of money at this project. I think all should watch this property. Should there ever be another NEW owner, or these guys decide to spend the $, this property has potential. It was once one of the nicest in Carrollton, and has the Architecture to once again reclaim that title. As for now....STOP, TURN, AND RUN RUN RUN!
