I also thought it was safe until...

my apartment was broken into during lunchtime in July. I am working on being more patient and thought I would give the management staff a little time to decide on a plan of action before submitting a review. However, time has passed and after speaking with a few others, I found out that there have been over 5 break-ins on the property. It sure would have been nice to add a reminder to the newsletter reminding our neighbors to help keep our community safe or perhaps get the person passing out those Domino's flyers, the notices of no-drop off box for rent, or the notices about cleaning up after our pets to assist...
When speaking with the front office, they only seemed concerned if we had renter's insurance and we were told that perhaps it would not have happened if we used the alarm. Upon having a service come out to activate our alarm, we found that it would not have worked anyway because it was not wired properly.
I was in love with my home until this happened. In fact, I had recommended it to several friends who were looking for a new place. The apartments are large and the maintenance staff is AWESOME!! I even like some of the management staff. Yes, I know that you can be burglarized anywhere. However, when I have lived in other places, the management did send out friendly reminders to help us keep our homes safer.

I used to live at the Meridian for years, so I know first hand that you don't get a better place to live. The person above me needs to realize a few things. First off, how old are you? You need a letter to remind you to be safe? I'm pretty sure I learned throughout my whole child life how to be "safe", and I'm pretty sure I don't need a letter from the office staff to remind me. Secondly, when I lived there up until last year, they checked my apartment yearly and tested he alarms. So, I don't know what you could be talking about with that. There really is no excuse at all to not have them set up (it was like $40 a year or something). If you are to stupid to utilize what security measures they do give you then don't talk bad to them for not giving you a letter. This person seems to think a letter over an alarm would have helped them. Am I the only one realizing how stupid this sounds? I choose the Meridian because of what they do give us for safety. Gates that always work! Camera on the gates, alarms in every apartment, and you blame your apartment getting broken into on no letter to you. Also, I am pretty old, and so I do a lot of research before I move in somewhere from previous issues with old apartments. If you think a few break in's is bad for a place as huge as The Meridian, you are sadly mistaken. Every single apartment complex gets broken into. And people, here is the best part. The nicer they are, they higher the crime rate. So don't try to talk down this apartment because of it. Do your research or don't come to a forum at all. It is your fault for not using the alarm, and it's your fault for not having insurance. If you lived in a house, and it was broken into would you sue your HOA? These people in the office ARE NOT YOUR KEEPERS, they are the management company. AKA, they take care of the property, not your things. If your complaint was a broken gate, sure blame them. But you not having renters insurance and not using your alarm is your fault. To all the people looking for a place to live, you will love it here. I only moved because of my work, and I miss the office staff, and my old apartment. The assistant and manager are amazing, and friendly as can be. I hope you all don't take this persons advise because they obviously don't know what they are talking about.
