We moved here from Houston and where we were living before was like a third world county compared to Colonial Grand at Silverado. Colonial Grand is beautiful, clean, the apartments are nice and bug free, and everything works as it should. The apt layouts are nice and our kitchen is huge with tons of counter and cabinet space. The rent is reasonable for the amenities. The business center is very handy and the staff have been nice (and we are used to dealing with horrible apartment staff so we do know the difference). The pool area is kept very clean and has a gas grill. There is only one dumpster/compactor for the whole place, but that area is kept very clean (and tenants here are good at not putting trash outside their doors). The whole grounds are kept very nicely. Tenants and staff have been friendly. People wave at you in the parking lot. There is an HEB and strip center so close that we can walk to if we want and great sidewalks in the area. We feel very safe here. This is also a great area to see a lot of wildlife, which is probably our favorite thing. Also, they have storage closets that can be rented very cheaply ($10/mo I think). And the electric bills are only about $50/mo even though we keep it COLD. VERY energy efficient.
I can only think of a few complaints and they are minor: children making noise in the business center during the day while I was trying to get some stuff done, garages under our apt. are sometimes noisy (but we are waiting to get one of them so this will no longer be an issue), We very rarely hear noise from other apartments or tenants but there is an occasional car that will go through the parking lot with the bass loud - this is maybe once a week (it happened hourly at our place in Houston).
All in all we feel like our apartment is a little home. Currently we plan to renew our lease for another year while saving to buy a house.
