Don't recommend living here

This apartment complex is in a good location, but the management company is terrible. I've lived in several apartment complexes, but none have been as unresponsive as this one. They are also now requiring renter insurance in addition to the rising cost of rent.
If you arrive home after 6:00 pm, good luck finding a parking space. In addition, we lived on the first floor and the walls are incredibly thin; it sounded like cattle lived above us. The worst aspect of this complex was the maintenance. I submitted maintenance requests more than ten times during my three years at Silverado, and NONE were ever responded to, even with persistence on my part and constant calls to the manager. We were even stuck outside of our apartment for six hours one day due to a door jam. We called the office, tried to find maintenance people, and were assured several times that someone was on his way. As darkness approached we finally had to call a professional on our own to come out and fix the jammed door. I would consider this an emergency, and the Silverado staff certainly did not find it worth examining. The countless other problems that occurred in our apartment were never fixed either. Not to mention that this place is marketed as a "gated community" - quite funny considering the gate was broken 75% of the time.
The people who live in this complex have become more and more questionable in the past three years. I definitely wouldn't consider it to be as safe as it used to be. When we moved out, after having the apartment professionally cleaned and fixing all damages, we were charged an exorbitant amount of money to fix previously existing problems that we had marked on our walk through list at the beginning of our lease. Not to mention that our cat was charged rent, which was not refundable nor applied to any of the supposed costs that we had to pay for from problems caused by previous tenants.
Overall this is in a great location, close to the park and near Round Rock and Cedar Park. However, I would definitely recommend moving to Altea which is just a couple of miles down the road. I moved there a couple of months ago after my lease expired at Silverado, and it has made a world of difference.

I completely agree about the people living here becoming more and more questionable. We're nearing the end of our 2nd year here and WOW can I just say that there are some real winners hanging around these days? Do you know why? It's because while they RAISE rents for people who renew they were offering ridiculously LOW rents for new tenants a year ago. The floorplan that they raised our rent on last year was being leased to new tenants for over $100 less. Awesome way to treat loyal tenants, no? Just what I want in my "gated community": people who can't afford to lease elsewhere.
