pretty good for the price

I lived at Anderson Place for 9 months and just recently moved out. Overall it was a pretty good experience, especially for the relatively low price.

There were very few college students living there; I only knew of 3 or 4 undergraduates (myself included) and 1 graduate student. Most of the people were young families. Consequently, it was usually pretty quiet. The exception here is if you have a unit that has a back door facing the back of Kroger--people would sometimes drive really fast down this alley to cut through from Southwest Pkwy to Brentwood or vice versa, which created a bit of noise. Also the garbage truck that emptied Kroger's dumpsters in that alley tended to come at around 5am and really made a lot of noise.

I do have a few gripes:
The place is pretty old and not too well constructed in the first place. Lots of minor things broke (mostly things like bathroom fixtures). Our A/C broke once (it still worked, but the air wasn't very cold; it wasn't able to get the apartment below about 80 degrees when it was about 95 outside). It took them about 3 days and as many phone calls to fix this problem. The hot water faucet on the bath tub broke twice, causing the tub to run hot water constantly--and I don't mean a trickle, it was going at about half of the maximum flow if you turned it on full blast. This caused the hot-water heater to run constantly and since the water was really hot and the bathroom was located near the thermostat, it also caused the A/C to run nearly constantly. As I said, this happened twice and it took them a total of a week to address both of these problems (4 days the first time and 3 days the second). Both of these indicents happened during the same month--they also changed management during that month. When I got my exorbatant electric bill, due to the afforementioned problems, I took it to the office and complained big time. I was hoping maybe they would offer to pick up part of the bill, but an apology would have sufficed. However, I didn't get either--they essentially told me that since that had happened under the previous management, they really couldn't care less.

I realize that was a rather long and spiteful complaint...despite that I would actually consider living here again if I were still in College Station. All of the above happened with the first 2 months, and the rest of the time was smooth-sailing. The other minor repairs I needed were handled promptly by nice, professional maintenance personnel. The location (right behind the Kroger at Texas Ave. & Southwest Parkway) was great and on one of the most convenient campus bus routes. The price was also great. Probably the best thing was that I got my entire security & pet deposits back even though I knew of several rather obvious things that were very honestly my fault (my dog chewed on and frayed a good chunk of carpet by the door, I broke a plastic slat on one of the window blinds, I broke a wooden slat on the laundry closet door, I didn't match the paint color when I filled in my nail and screw holes, etc.)

Like I said, no frills, but in my opinion it was worth the low price.
