Have lived here since the summer of '05 while my spouse finished Master's degree and have had an overall pretty good experience. Things I really like:

Large shade trees over lots of the units (helps with utility bills)

Four unit buildings with covered porches/balconies and space for lawn chairs

Larger than you'd expect (but not BIG) backyards in several of the downstairs units

Nice & spacious "country" kitches where the eating area is the same room; ample cabinets, UNcovered food pantry/shelves for books at kitchen entry, tile (linoleum) floor in entire kitchen/eating area, built in lowered computer/writing desk connected to end of countertop, sliding glass door with screen & rear entry from the kitchen to backyard.

ample parking with spaces right in front of your apartment & sidewalks around whole complex

coat closet at front entry, decent size (for such a small apartment) single-door closets in bedrooms, hall closet for bathroom linens,etc. All closets have at least one storage shelf.

Good counter space on both sides of the sink in the bathroom. Subsequently ample storage space underneath.

Multi-speed ceiling fan/light kits in living room, both bedrooms, & kitchen.

Nicely sized, conveniently located windows in every room, including the bathroom. (bathroom window has frosted glass plus mini-blinds for privacy.)

fresh, well padded carpet insalled prior to move-in.

Insulation seemed to be pretty good- could still hear upstairs neighbor some, but not as bad as some newer apartments I've lived in. HARDLY EVER heard next-door neighbors who had a young, loud child; except when they were outside.

Friendly, helpful management & maintenance staff (even through ownership changes)

hmmm... can't think of anything else at this point. Do I sound like I'm trying to sell you a unit or what'!



OK, now for the things I DIDN'T LIKE...

Since the apartments are located directly behind the Kroger shopping center complex, there are trucks that come unload during the wee hours of the A.M. several times a week. There is also a garbage truck that comes during the same time period. Also, as said in a previous review, people like to use the alley behind the Kroger as a short-cut between the two main connecting streets and subsequently it makes a loud noise when they drive over the drain grates/manholes (or whatever they are) back there.

Since the Kroger is so conveniently located, there are many area residents who like to walk back and forth for groceries and therefore you see an occasional shopping cart on the property grounds. It can be unpleasant when these people (some pretty scary looking) walk right past you while you're outside getting in/out of your car or whatever.

These apartments are pretty cheap so they do attract a few interesting tenants, however I've never seen a police car in the parking lot here or at any of the many surrounding duplexes.

Not happy that when it stayed hot and dry all summer, then poured rain at the beginning of the fall we then had a fire-ant invasion IN our apartment off and on for a couple of weeks.

Not very air-tight front or back doors which causes various bugs/ants to enter if you don't keep it sprayed with bug spray. Also allows dust to come in.

Pretty much ALL of the electric outlets had to be replaced at some point since they were so old that our plugs would just fall out of the sockets.

TINY bathroom that two people really can't be in at the same time. (unless one's a small child)

That's really all I can think of!

These apartments are really four-plexes if you want to call them that. I wish they built new apartments in this same, 4-unit- to-a-building, style with the eating area in the kitchen!

My spouse, child, and I would definitely live here again if we needed a cheap place while one of us went back to school!
