Cheap, but it has its problems

I lived here from May 2006 to June 2007. Compared to other apartments, they offered a lot more for a much smaller price. However, this place definitely had its problems.
PROS:
Excellent price! I had a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom (740 square feet) for only $410 a month. The only thing they pay is water though so you are still responsible for electric, and cable and internet if you choose to get it. My electric was about $60-$75 per month.
Very pretty complex, especially in the spring. I loved the trees in the middle of the complex.
In walking distance to the grocery store and some restaurants.
CONS:
To start with, if you have a guest visit they MUST park in a visitors space or they will be towed, guaranteed. These apartment have a deal with a local towing company, and every night I would see a tow truck in the parking lot and one of the guys shining a flashlight in every vehicle window to see if they had a sticker to park in those spaces. Visitor parking spaces are severely limited though, so sometimes my guests would have to park at the opposite side of the complex, which is very inconvenient. Also, the back side parking lots have very poor lighting. I already didn't feel safe living there, but this just added to it even more.
Also, they claim to have a heated hot tub, but during the entire year I lived there it NEVER worked. I kept asking about it and they just said that they were ordering parts for it. They also have a workout facility but half the machines were broken so you couldn't even use them.
I felt like I had no privacy due to the huge window in the living room. Because of this I could hear everything that goes on outside. My neighbors would walk by and I could hear their conversations perfectly, even when they were speaking in a normal tone. Makes me wonder how well they could hear me. The window also made the living room quite cold during the winter.
The AC unit was right outside my bedroom window, so anytime I had the air on I could hear it. This sometimes made it hard to sleep at night.
This apartment is on the bus route, but it takes forever to get to campus because you have to ride the bus pretty much the entire route before you get to campus. I would have to be at the bus stop 40 minutes before my class started to make sure I would get there on time. Eventually I started walking across the Kroger shopping center to catch the bus at the Red Stone bus stop because it was faster.
The sink in my apartment was painted white, so by the time I moved out there were stains in it. Luckily they didn't take it out of my deposit though.
Finally, my apartment had an unpleasant odor. They had put in new carpet so it couldn't have been that, and it didn't exactly smell like cigarette smoke either. I never figured out why it had a strange smell and it never really went away. When I moved I had to wash everything I had in that apartment just so it didn't make my new apt smell unpleasant.

Well, she may not have been the manager at the time I lived there. I would recommend the apartments to any guys that want to live there. As a 19 year old girl, however, I did not feel too safe living there. The rent was very affordable, so it definitely allowed me to save a little. However, with that said, the electric was ridiculous. I never ran much more than the refrigerator throughout most the year and I was still paying $60-$75 per month. After I moved, my electric bill dropped to $25-$30 per month at my new apartment. Still don't know why it was costing so much.
