At first I thought Callaway House would be a great place to live. The first couple weeks weren't bad but after that it was horrible. Basically if you are not going to be in a sorority or fraternity you will not fit in here at all. Even the staff favors all of the Greek kids. Don't get me wrong, some of my best friends are in soroities/frats, but these are the snobbiest, most spoiled, brattiest ones I've ever met. On top of that, we had the fire alarm go off at least twice a weak. Sometimes it was as bad as three times a night. We would all have to go sit outside (rain or cold) every time until the firemen came and checked out the whole building. So if you do decide to live here I suggest that you take your books out there with you during fire alarms because a lot of time you wont have time to go back in before your next class. It was a complete nightmare! There is nowhere near enough guest parking. None of my friends ever wanted to come visit me there because they had to sign in and go this huge ordeal just to come in for a short period of time. And if they wanted to stay longer they would have to go back down stairs and sign their car in again every two hours. It was always a huge problem. Even if you are a resident you have to show your 'Callaway House ID' every night when you come in after a certain time which gets really annoying when you don't feel like dealing with their little security guards. Oh, and never accidentally park in the wrong spot because the security people are always walking around trying to find cars to put a boot on. I parked in the wrong spot for 10 minutes and came back to find a boot on my truck. I ended up having to pay a $50 fine to get it removed. That goes for guests who don't sign in also. They make it seem like theres tons of prizes throughout the year that everyone wins. However, I noticed that the winners were always conveniently those favored residents. They had tons of stupid little rules and guidelines that were totally pointless. The one and only good thing I can say is that the food is really good- when they dont run out- and Ms. Jan (the lady that checks cards in the cafeteria) is awesome. Everything else was horrible. I could go on and on and on but all I can really say is DO NOT LIVE HERE. Unless you are a rich, snobby, spoiled little sorority/frat kid stay away.
