I lived at the Cambridge during my time as an undergraduate. At first the Cambridge was great, but my last year was stressful!! I want future residents to know that the following things happened to me at the Cambridge.
I had money stolen from my room by a maid. She was not even my maid and I was not supposed to be having my room cleaned on the days that she stole from me. All of the housekeepers have a master key that opens every room. So, when you leave for the day, HIDE YOUR THINGS! Luckily the Cambridge has a great lock system and they could tell when she used her key to get into my room when I was not there!!! She was fired, with a slap on the wrist because of some managerial politics. I was reimbursed, but it scared me to know that someone was digging around in my room...because she had go go through my purse and wallet to find what she did!!!
Also, my entire room flooded while I was there! It was bad...really, there was so much water and muck that it leaked through the ceiling to the room below me!!! It was a good thing that I was home. The water came from my toilet and the maintenence people found that there was nothing that I had done wrong - something was stuck in the plumbing somewhere between the room above and/or below me. Sadly, they never really figured out for sure what happened....so it could happen again!! Keep your valuables off of the floor!! Also, when my room flooded with toilet water, the manager did not want to replace my carpet!!! He wanted to fumagate the room to clean the carpet....you know, to get rid of any diseases that the toilet water might have brought in... When we asked for the MSDS sheet, we saw that this "fume" was proven to cause cancer in people/animals that were exposed to it for periods of time!!! We fought the get the carpet changed!!! We were told that there was no extra carpet, and I guess they did not want to order any, but when pressed, they miraculously recovered some. Honestly, I don't think they were going to ask me if it was ok to fumugate my room. If my mother had not come to town to help me out with the situation, they would have just gone ahead and fumugated while I was in classs...with my clothes in the room and everything!!
I do want to commend the maintenance staff because they are wonderful!! And the head of the cafeteria is experienced and knows what he is doing. It is the manager and some of the RA's that were hard to deal with!!! The housekeepers in general are very good as well. It just bothers me that one stole from me and I hope that no more people are hired that will do this.

the cambridge is an awesome place to live and I lived there four years as well. as far as the housekeeping thing goes, it stiks that your stuff was stolen, but youre sore when they took care of your problem for you and got rid of the person. sounds like alot more than a slap on the wrist. that was only one case, and their keys only work til a certain time in the day, so its not like people can just creep in on you all the time, but that was a misfortunate event. having your carpet replaced probably would have been a bigger inconvenience to you than having it fumugated. it looks like you were looking for a problem just so you could get new carpet, but i dont blame you for wanting it replaced just as i cannot blame them for not wanting to replace it if i can be cleaned. the RAs were college students just like us, so they arent supposed to be our parents, we were all grown as people and should not have need babysitters or anyone to hold our hands. if you would have acted like an adult im sure you would have gotten treated as one. as far as management goes, the cambridge has one of the most personal staffs ever and actually care about the residents and go further than they have to to make sure the residents are okay. i think people sometimes forget they are not the only people living places and that there are rules that have to be followed. just because you are not comfortable all the time, rules cannot be amended or altered in your favor just to appease you. the cambridge is not perfect but what place is, it is a good place to make new friends while transitioning from high school to college while having the luxury of not having to worry about anything else as far as housing expenses go.
