The office and maintenance staff at Doux Chene are very wonderful people, but the owner won't let them repair things properly the first time. I have had an ongoing roach problem the entire year I've been here. They'll have the exterminator spray your apartment upon request, but that means you have to remove EVERYTHING from your kitchen cabinets, pantry and bathroom cabinets. They only have your apartment sprayed which only chases the roaches out for a day or two and then they come right back.

As for the maintenance issue. The maintenance staff are very good at coming in to assess your problem in a timely manner, and usually do a good job getting things "taken care of" in a timely manner too. Often times they are not allowed the materials to do the repairs properly the first time. When I moved in the carpet needed replaced (bleach spots in the closet, a bit wrinkle in the carpet across the main area of my efficiency, and no padding under part of the carpet by the bathroom sink), the countertops were all painted very poorly (very rough from bubbles in the paint, and the counter top not being cleaned before painting), both kitchen and bathroom sinks were painted with multiple coats of paint, and the bathtub & tub surround were painted. When the paint started chipping out of the sinks they were replaced, but when the tub started to chip the maintenance staff were told to re-paint the tub and were given appliance paint to do so. Finally after the paint didn't work (the maintenance man who was told to paint it said it wasn't going to work) it took six weeks for the office manager to get approval to purchase a new tub and surround for my bathroom. I'm not positive if the problem is with the owner or the office manager, but I feel it is with the owner.

I disagree about the Manager and Staff being "Wonderful People". When compared to Prison Inmates, I suppose that they could look that way in comparison. I also think that this reviewer UNDERESTIMATED the size of the COCKROACHES. I do agree about the assessment that the place is in dire need of repair.

I doubt that it was the owner's fault. It's really all up to the property manager. The owner is never there to actually assess the property but maybe once every few months or so. It is the staff and their incompetence that is the blame for the shoddy predicament this apartment is in.
