It is sad to see the radical drop in the rating on this apartment after 2007. Before the Aspen Square, based on somewhere in the other state bought this apartment complex, almost all the review were positive. But after the ownership change, as you can see on this site, the rating on this apartment complex has dropped to the ground. Unfortunately, I have to add another negative comment on Laurel Ridge. By the way, Aspen Square's web site may be this.

I am not sure because the letter I received (clipped on the door irresponsibly) for notification of new ownership didn't have any addresses on it. I only know their name. This company bought Campus View on Harvey too, and you can see bad reviews on their management too.
I visit the apartment office of Laurel Ridge sometimes, and whenever I go there, the interior looks completely different from the former visit. They do renovation of their own office every few months to make it look lavish. They installed a little garden in front of their office entrance without any proper reasons (other than IRS related reasons). That just decreased the capacity of the parking lot for visitors. My rent increased by almost $200 since 2006 (it will increase again), but my apartment didn't get any renovations. Kitchen is falling apart. Cabinets in bathrooms and kitchen are half rotten. Somehow, the exhaust hood for the stove is not connected to the outside and it s just circulating the air (is it even legal'). Cooling and Heating systems always have problems because the equipments are old. I am sure the roof insulation is decayed, and the building is far from efficient, and we are loosing a lot of money for that. I am secretly learning how to do renovation of my apartment by watching Ask This Old House on PBS, but I can t do it because it s not my own house. Damn.
Well, the worst part of this apartment is the people in the apartment office. There are many young women in the office always. As you may already know from the other reviews, they are incompetent from the aspect of professional apartment manager. You can t expect any respect from them when you talk with them. They treat people as if they were teenage college kids. There are too many disturbing incidents done by them, some of them made me mad. But I haven t said any complaints because if I really made a statement to accuse them, they would make up something to deport me from my apartment. I don t have money to move to the other place as a poor student worker. This is not a joke. One of my friends had a bad experience by making legitimate complaints. If only I had enough money to buy this apartments. I would fire all those people and hire Wally again... That brings back many people here. Sigh... But I am a poor student worker. I am sorry, all the residents!
I have to mention the good parts of this place too. The location is good. This neighborhood is safer than the other area in BCS. Sometime, I can sense bad smell from the sewage plant near by (many residents doesn t know about it), but overall, this location is quiet and peaceful. This is my third review of this place including former Timber Creek. I recommended this place in the former two reviews, but this time, I don t.
Several friends left this apartments last year because of this bad situation. But I am hanging in here. However, I also have been losing my faith on the apartments since 2007 winter, and it has reached the limit. This will be my final review on this apartment complex. A part of our apartments has been sold to the other management company lately. I hope some other company will buy our apartments this year.
