If I could do it again, it wouldn't be done here

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009

I moved into this complex in Dec.of 2007 with a year lease. When I came out apt hunting a few months prior to move-in, that's when the lies started. I was looking for a one bedroom which ofcourse they did not have a model of or even pictures of to show me. So instead they showed me a model of their two bedroom that had just been renovated. I was told that a couple (2) months after my move in date, I would have to stay at a different apt in their complex while mine got renovated to look like the two bedrooms. That was fine with me, since I would be getting new cabinetry, flooring and a washer/dryer. Three nights after moving in to my apartment, at 2am I heard a load crashing sound and everything in my apartment shook. I went down stairs and looked out of the front window and saw that a drunk driver had driven his truck into the side of one of the units across from mine. Not the thing you want planted in your mind not even a week into this place.
Months passed and I never got a notice about when I would have to move to a temp unit for renovations, so I asked the front office girls. They informed me that the company cancelled plans to renovate the one bedrooms and I would have to stay with my old apt. The carpeting was way passed due for replacement, the cabinets and doors were rotting, the bathtub had mildew stains, and the stairs in my apt probably needed to be reinforced. I asked them about the washer/dryer they were supposed to put in and they said they changed their minds on that aswell, but failed to inform me about any of these changes. They also weren't paying for my water bill for the first 3 months I lived there even though it was in my lease. They said that they didn't have a way to meter the apts in the culdesac where my apt was. If it weren't for corprate being in the office on the day that I went into complain, it probably would have gotten nasty.
They don't enforce their tenants to clean up after their pets outside, so I constantly had neighbor dog mess in front of my door.
Finally, every 6 mo. they raise their rent cost and give you some crazy reason as to why. First it was b/c they were installing cable and wifi so they tacked on an extra $50 to everyones rent, but they advertise that it's free when you sign a lease. Then 6 mo later they raised rent another $65 and when asked why they did it, I got told that they don't know, they just follow instructions.
I moved out of there 2 months ago and couldn't be happier. I wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone. This is not the way to run an apartment complex, especially when it's obvious that they take advantage of the young students who live there.
