I do NOT recommend these apartments

My husband and I moved into these apartments shortly before the management change. If we had known about all the changes that we going to take place, we would not have chosen these apartments. Here are our two main issues:
1) Drastic increase in rent - the new management says this is justified due to their plans to renovate the apartments, adding brand new appliances, new carpet, marble counter tops, etc. Sounded great to us, until we asked them how long till the renovations would be done in our apartment and they said at least 2 years from now. So we're paying a lot more now, for renovations we aren't even going to enjoy (we are most certainly going to be gone before 2 years is up). Also, the rent increase now includes wireless internet and cable TV. Ok, fine, but we don't even own a TV and when we asked if they could just not turn on the cable in our apartment and charge us $50 less in rent, they refused. Also, we were told that the new internet jacks would be installed in the bedrooms. We asked them if they would please install our internet jack downstairs in the main room, since that is where we use our desktop computer and where our modem is plugged in. We came home from work the day they installed the jacks and guess what' They installed them upstairs in the bedrooms. So my husband had to run a cable from the internet jack out through our bedroom window and in through the window in the main room so that we can continue to use our computer downstairs.
2) The new management takes absolutely no responsibility in keeping residents from being a nuisance to their neighbors. We have had issues with our neighbors being loud very late at night and even urinating outside our apartment but when I talked to the management about it they said there was nothing they could do, there aren't any noise ordinances in place and the only thing I can do is call the police.
I will add that not everything about the new management company is terrible - the office staff is very friendly (if unhelpful), and we have also had good experiences with the maintenance staff responding quickly and professionally to any problems. However, it's not enough to keep us here. We are moving out as soon as our lease is up and we will not recommend these apartments to anyone.
