I was the third person to rent my apartment without the carpet being replaced. I had an animal. I was willing to lose my security deposit (which I did) but they want me to replace the carpet with brand new carpet. I believe it should be paid out of my very large security deposit.
They are unccooperative and kept ALL of the security deposit, lost track of the $200 pet deposit and said we didn't pay one, then came back and said we did pay it but it is not refundable.
I can't believe these people.

According to Texas law, security deposits are security deposits. They must itemize the deductions and cannot deduct for normal wear and tear. Read your lease and consult an attorney.
