The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Hmmm so much to say. I have lived here for around 3 years and yes, the place has rapidly gone downhill. Overalll, the apartments are reasonable in size and in overall poor shape, but you get what you pay for. I live in a second floor apartment and the entire floor slants, the stairs wobble and it is obvious that they have had to patch the ceilings several times. However, I can deal with that for the cheaper rent. For major repairs, the management will fix what is necessary fairly quickly. I have had a few water leaks, and while they were fixed, the ceilings were not. Again, for $470 for a two bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment, I cannot really complain as much. Even though the students do use the parking lot as their own, there is still plenty of parking space. Don't believe the rental agents when they tell you that they are working on parking passes, they have told us that since I moved in. The laundry room is falling apart and yes, you can only use the cold water to do your laundry and the dryers break on a regular basis. Unfortunately, since the apartment has begun accepting HUD, the place is becoming increasingly unpleasant to live in. There is trash ALL over the apartment complex including the ever present shopping carts. I constantly hear people scream around the courtyard to one another, even at 2 am, and every other word is "------------". The police are here quite often and I came home one day to find crime scene tape around the parking lot. In addition, several people have had their apartments broken into along with their mailboxes and I worry about the safety of my car. I wouldn't worry much about my own personal safety, but the safety of my things is a concern. The management is trying to convert one of the apartments to have someone on site, but I am not sure how much that is going to help. The complex is long neglected (again, something I can deal with for cheap rent and an apartment close to HEB and the bus route) but the outside atmosphere is getting downright annoying and unsafe so I am moving.
