YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
so here's the deal with this place. I do, currently live in The Lexington.
1. the AIR CONDITIONING is ALWAYS OUT!
2. the laundry room has really old machines that don't work half of the time, and then residents write profanity all over the broken washing machines and dryers because they're angry that they don't work.
3. before I moved in to these apartment, I asked the manager if they had washer and dryer hook ups IN the apartments and they said YES. This is a LIE!
a. first of all, they claim that they DO have hook ups, but its just a water connection port INSIDE A CLOSET of one of the bedrooms, no vent for a dryer.
b. you can't fit a washer and a dryer inside a closet of a bedroom!
c. so now I have a washer and a dryer that I can't use, so they're just sitting at a friend's house in their garage. The Lexington staff should have been honest about the "washer and dryer hook-ups" that are impossible to use.
4. there are plenty of parking spots, so that's not a problem. But I have noticed that I'll have like 1/4 a tank of gas missing every now and then. Maybe someone is syphoning gas' I've had friends actually SEE people do it at other apartments, so its definitely a possibility.
5. speaking of the parking lot, I've never seen a police officer trolling the lot for safety, but I see tow trucks towing away "visitors'" cars at 2am. They are very serious about towing your car! Which is dumb, because we have plenty of parking for everyone.
6. the maintenance people NEVER FIX ANYTHING CORRECTLY! I have been living here for 3 months now and I have called and asked them to fix the air conditioner THREE times and its still broken. The maintenance people will rig it so that it works for a week or two, and then starts blowing hot air again. It's actually broken as I'm sitting here typing this. Of course, this makes the energy bill go up because the air conditioner is trying to cool the apartment, but it can't so its just going all the time, until I realize what's happening and I just turn it off and open the doors and windows.
7. we have "free internet" but its slower than Christmas. I would rather pay for internet that works, thanks.
8. I can totally hear my neighbors "hoppin' on the good foot and doing the bad thing". It's totally creepy and sometimes I just have to leave and come home later.
9. The dish washer, stove, and refrigerator and circa 1970. The dish washer doesn't shut properly. The stove smells funny when you use it. The refrigerator is semi-magnetic on the outside so magnets stick to it ... sometimes. It does keep food cold though!
10. We don't have FANS ANYWHERE IN THE APARTMENTS! not the bedrooms, not the living room, nothing. They said that we could hang a fan from a "schwag line". I don't even want to know what a "schwag line" is!
11. I had to buy a microwave. The apartments don't come with microwaves.
12. There are no LIGHTS in the bedrooms or living room. You have to buy a lamp or two, and then have cords running across the floors. NO LIGHTS'! I know.
I guess that's about all I have to say about this place. So if you're wondering, "If you hate this place so much, why do you still live there'"
If there is anything good to say about these apartments, it is:
1. its cheap
2. its SUPER close to campus
3. I'm locked into a 12-month contract
you can't beat paying less than $600 for a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment so close to campus. which brings us back to the title of this review:
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
thanks and gig 'em!
