You get what you pay for...

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009

When my roommate and I moved in May 2008, the office management and staff was great. They knew us by name and where we lived, and they took care of what needed to be done. Between the two of us, we each paid $310/mo.(split two ways) for a 2/2, including wireless, and we were about 1/2 mile away from campus. Not too bad, right' However, the management changed twice in the year that we lived there and it changed for the worse. Our dishwasher latch broke around Thanksgiving and I had gone to the office the Monday before Thanksgiving to get it fixed so we could have our dishes clean by the time we got back from the break. I was wrong in thinking it would be repaired and the office was closed until the Monday following Thanksgiving. The walls between the apartments are pretty thin, and after getting off work one night, I walked into my apartment to hear music blaring from my living room. The music and yelling was coming from the apartment behind mine, and I could hear every conversation and song perfectly through the walls. After that, the weather stripping under our door fell off, and we had to wait three months for it to be repaired. When I would go by the office to drop off my rent check, I would be instructed to leave it on the desk, with the chance of it being lost because the manager was too lazy to come and get it from me. We filled out a lease extension to stay an extra month, and while it was approved, we had to go and ask someone about it because they could not notify us about it. Last, when we finally moved out at the end of May, I went to make sure they had a forwarding address so we could receive our deposits and such, since our apartment was left in good condition. I asked who I assumed was the manager to check our file, but she could not be bothered to do that. I had to leave my parents' home address on a sticky note on her desk since she could not take a single minute from her life to retrieve the file. Also, in a span of about 2 weeks during April, there were 4 car break-ins that I know about that occurred in the complex parking lot. The management did not inform the tenants about this at all.

Take what you will from this, if you don't mind some noise, poor management, and maintenance that takes forever, live here. It was bearable for a year for me. This is just a fair warning, though, that you get what you pay for.
