Bug problems and etc.

I really hope the management of treehouse reads all the reviews on this page and gets theclue! There is a major bug problem throughout the complex. I have had roaches in my apartment more than a couple times and all sorts of other little critters. I even saw a lizard crawl in through a hole in my door seal. I imagine that the infestation is largely a result of the fact that treehouse is built right next to a dryed up bayou-ditch. I think everyone would benefit if the management paid for professionals to spread pesticides on the grounds at night once a weak like all the nicer apartments do. On the positive side, I complained about the roaches and a exterminator was sent out, but the problem was only alleviated for a short time.
As far as the apartments themselves, people who are condsidering living in treehouse should realize that they are really old and shabby, but if you can deal with that they are not a bad deal.
The walls are thin but I have only had cause to complain about noise once, and the managment was helpful in resolving the problem.
The management is actually really nice and professional and extremely friendly.
Be warned though...Im almost positive that the cost of electricity in the summer time is dramatically inflated by the apartment complex (who bills you instead of The city) because my bills go from $20 in the spring, winter, and fall to around 200 a month even though i am extremely careful about keeping the ac off when im not around. Ive complained about the charges several times but have never been vindicated. And if they dont inflate the price, then that speaks alot about how crappy the insulation is.
Also, its really strange that there are no ceiling lights or fans in the living spaces. When I moved in management assured me that they would be installing them, but a year later i havent seen any sign of them.
Along those same lines, I was never reimbursed for three months of internet I paid for in my lease but did not recieve while they were installing the wireless network. But, im pretty sure management taking money for services you do not receive is a universal problem at all complexes.
BTW, the internet is AWFUL! It is completely undependable and on more than one occasion I have had to go up to campus late at night to finish school work because it was down. However, the management always was so nice when I complained and aggreed the service provider sucks. I hope they change providers to someone more reliable.
Maintenance staff is friendly and respond in a reasonable time to most requests.
There are a lot of pets in the complex so if you have one or you like animals, you're set, but if you dislike them, treehouse probably isnt a good choice.
Despite a few significant, but resolvable problems, i would recommend treehouse because they are the perfect affordable lackluster college apartments.
