Older, but HUGE

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
You have to realize that these apartments are pretty old. My aunt and uncle lived here when my uncle got his master's degree -- in the 70's. So, when you visit apartments you'll visit many new ones, but you have to consider what your wants/needs are.
I love this apartment. My roommate and I have a TON of space, it's convenient (in relation to campus), there is a nearby bus stop that's great for football weekends (it's on Anderson and has been for years--about a 10 min. walk), the staff is friendly, and things always have been fixed quickly.
When we first moved in, we had a bug problem(no one had lived in our unit for over a year), but we just told the management when we saw them(which was about 4 or 5 times) and they called the pest control guy. I also bought some of those roach hotel things and put them all over the house---haven't seen any insects since. I do see spiders occasionally but they're always those microscopic kind...and I have seen a TON of geckos outside my door because they are attracted to the lights, but they're not scary or anything.
The owners are a very sweet couple from somewhere in the middle east (i think sri lanka, but don't quote me on that). As many of the reviews say they are often not in the office, but that is because they run the apartments (not a management firm)...so if they have to fix things they have to leave the office. HOWEVER, if you call and leave a message they always call you back within 20 minutes.
I've had to notify them of a lot of maintenance issues, but again it's mostly stuff that just needs to be replaced due to the age of the apartments, and they are quick to do so. For example, the light switch in my room had a short and I told them when I left for Christmas break -- it was replaced when I got back. The door to my closet came out of the tracks and they fixed it within an hour. Earlier in the fall semester, the upstairs apartment had a water leak that affected my wall/ceiling in the bathroom and my bedroom. It was kind of inconvenient for a few days because they couldn't put sheet rock back up until the ceiling was all dry (to prevent mold)--but they did cover it up so we could continue to live normally.
There aren't cable or internet hookups in the bedrooms because the apartments were built before all that stuff. However, we just use wireless internet.
All in all, I love this place. It has been renovated so that we have tile (NO linoleum!) and solid countertops. It's spacious and I feel very safe!--oh yeah and did i mention cheap' for the size and price---definitely a great place to live!
