Rain Soaked Ceilings/Unprofession Property Mgr

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
Had lived at Central Park under previous ownership/management. An older complex (1983, I believe), it certainly had its problems but management was consistently professional. Yesterday I woke to find the entire center portion of my stairway rainsoaked and caught myself twice before almost falling. That's really scary when you are my age. Today is June 16, 2004 and the problem is worse as the ceiling is close to collapsing. the first leak occurred January 24, two days after my move in. Had no weather stripping around the front main door and had to keep cardboard there for almost a week before it was fixed. Learned from the former tenant that mgmt was well aware of this and other problems. Others have reported that their ceilings HAVE already fallen in, one in the bathroom. Such a shame because this is such an attractive small property from the street. Most of this can be attributed to the new ownership which apparently isn't interested in doing what is right though I can't imagine why they would not want to take at least basci care of their investment. The current property manager is childish and immature, totally unprofessional from the getgo. Files are lost or not maintained. Even the most polite requests for maintenance can be met with unprovoked verbal attacks, and often with deceit (or downright dishonesty) The gimick is "Free" rent. ( I received $200 off the first two months) I was even told she had "done me a favor" by allowing me to move in. I had had an outstanding balance from the previous tenancy that I was unaware of having had to move when I was out of work. That is how I ended up back there when I went in to inquire about the balance. The property mgr almost pounced on me inviting me to move back in. Told her I didn't qualify, so she offered $20 off for not taking the garage that was assigned to it. Maintenance staff does the best they can. Soon, soon Central Park will be a thing of the past for me and several others, one who has been there 7 years.
